Dr.
Nussbaum works with the US Army Health Facility Planning
Agency. He travels the world consulting with military
medical construction and design projects. His
responsibilities include:
Define,
interpret and translate design process and requirements for
medical and dental treatment facility clinical space,
functional / efficient adjacencies, equipment requirements
and life safety issues into specific functional program for
design (PFD) to meet current and future clinical needs of an
organization. Serve as the clinical subject matter expert
for medical construction and design process involving
Operation and Maintenance (O&M) projects as well as Medical
Military Construction (MED MILCON) projects.
Define,
interpret and translate current and future clinical space
requirements, health facility design criteria, functional /
efficient adjacencies, equipment requirements and life
safety issues for the Architectural/Engineering firms as
well as for mechanical, electrical, communications,
architects, and interior engineer specialists
Research
future trends in specialty areas; define current and future
facility space and clinical requirements.
Continuously challenge old design philosophies in accordance
with changing medical, diagnostic and equipment trends
Participate in critical architectural design reviews to
assure quality in every facet of the design.
Serve as
the user’s representative at review conferences to clarify
and resolve issues during design phases
He is an
assistant professor on the faculty in the Graduate School of
Nursing Program at the Uniformed Services University Health
Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.
